How to check a quote
Four quick checks before you share anything.
Why every quote here has a number
So anyone can look it up. A verse has its surah and verse number, like Quran 94:5; a hadith its collection and number, like Sahih al-Bukhari 1. Every quote here carries one, so you can check it, read around it and share it with confidence.
Verses are whole verses, in Arabic with the English of Saheeh International; sayings are in our own English, kept close to the meaning.

Sharing a quote
Keep the reference with the words.
- Our cards print it on the picture, so it travels with the quote.
- A verse belongs to a passage: read Quran 94:5, or any verse, with the verses around it on the Quran on muslimsaroundtheworld.org.
- An English quote is a translation: the Arabic is the original.
Islamic quote questions people ask
Can I use these cards on social media?
Yes, they are free to share. Please keep the reference on the card and don’t change the words.
Why are some quotes long?
We quote whole verses, not pieces cut out of them, so the meaning isn’t changed by what is left out. A few are two or three verses that belong together.
Is there a quote of the day?
Yes: the quote at the top of the home page changes every day, the same for everyone.
Where do the English wordings come from?
For verses, the Saheeh International translation, credited under each one. For sayings, our own English, kept close to the narration with its collection and number, so you can compare it with a full translation.
